In Math we are exploring “Teddy Bear Counters”. This week we spent some time just playing with them and then we did a worksheet where we had to line them up then color a matching bear. The children did a great job! We are also learning to write numbers. So far we have done numbers 1-3. We “’skywrite” them first, then do it on paper.
One day I read another Clifford book to the children, then they painted a picture of him. They really enjoyed water color painting.
We played a game called “Puppies in the Dog House”. We practiced going “inside” and “outside” the dog house, along with other commands. These “puppies” follow directions very well!

Puppy Day-
On Friday, the children brought their favorite stuffed puppy to school for the day. We had a “puppy share” and all the kids told about his or her friend. They also got to keep their puppy on their desk as long as he/she behaved. We had some very well behaved dogs in our room!!
Isabella’s dog’s name is “Lauren”.
Zachary’s dog was very cuddly!
Katelynn’s dog had a purple bow in her hair.
We each had a turn petting one another’s dog.
Jerrel knew a lot about his pet!
The puppies gave each other “high five!”
Karli is very proud of her “Pinkie”
Matthew gets a turn to talk about his friend “Spot”.
After that we had a “puppy parade”. We marched around our building and the preschool building, showing off our puppies. I apologize for the “foggy” picture. My camera fogged over when we went out into the heat after being in the air conditioned room.
The children begged to stop by the Preschool building to show their former Preschool teacher-Mrs. Angela their pets. She is always excited to see them go by in their straight line. She is so proud of them! She saw us and came out to see the children. They LOVE Mrs. Angela!!
Friday is our feeding day for our pet frog!
This week it was Jerrel’s job to feed the frog. He was so excited!! They all can’t wait to have that job!
Our Frog’s name is Chet. I think he loves being in our class, watching and hearing the kids. He is so funny for us to watch.
We made dog puppets also.
They turned out so cute!!
The last activity we did on Friday before going home was to have a “puppy toss”. We used Beanie Baby Puppies to toss in a bucket. It was so much fun. The kids did great. They have really great aim! Everyone time someone rang the bucket we gave them our “trucker cheer”…”Honk, Honk, Good Job, Good Buddy!!”
What a great first week of school!! Next week will be full of lots of fun and activities too! We will also start our regular Bible and Phonics lessons along with Math and Handwriting and lots more learning!! Stay tuned…(I usually update every weekend)
