Our Wonderful Grandparents!!

This past Friday our school hosted it’s annual “Grandparent’s Day”. We invited everyone’s grandparents or other guest (If grandparents can’t come) to our school for the morning and to have lunch with us. This year was a great success!

First we had a special chapel for everyone to attend in the elementary. Here is Bella with her “Granny”.

Jerrel’s Papa and Mimi both got to come!

Zachary’s Nana came and Katelynn’s Pawpaw came. (Please forgive me if I get someone’s grandparent “name” wrong. I was quite confused by the end of the day!)

IMG_8074Karli’s Grandma came as well as Matthew’s MawMaw (I am sorry I didn’t have a picture of them in chapel)

Our special guest speaker was Mrs. Michelle Earls, the pastor’s wife of the Tarrant Bible Methodist Church (Also Mrs. Messner’s church!!). She did a fantastic job! Here she is reading a cute poem about a Granddad Snake and his granddaughter Sammy. She also told the Bible story about David and Goliath! She did an awesome job!

Her and her husband, Pastor Jon Earls, did a puppet show for us about a Granny and her Grandson. The kids loved it!

Next, the K3-2nd grade classes went to the library for a special treat. We had a deputy sheriff of St. Clair County visit us.

The Grandparents joined us and really enjoyed his “talk” also.

Waiting on Deputy Smith to get started…

Deputy Smith let the kids all hold his “billy club” for a few seconds.

IMG_8088

He made sure they knew not to hit each other with it!

One of the second graders got to be handcuffed! The kids loved that and all wanted a turn. (He said their arms were too little and they would be able to escape to easily)

IMG_8090

The kids were really attentive to what he was saying.

Deputy Smith told the kids that he is a Christian and that he felt “called” to his job as deputy. We are so blessed to have men like him serving our community!

Next we all went out to his car to see all the cool stuff inside it.

IMG_8094

He let three children at a time climb inside the back seat. They were so excited!!

Next, we went back to our classroom and showed our Grandparents a little bit of what we do each day.

They also filled out a paper together about what they enjoy doing with their grandparents.

Karli’s great grandmother also got to come!!
