“Playing School” and “Learning in School”

I caught some of the kids “playing school” during our recess one day. It was very interesting to watch “me” teach. Ha! Ha!IMG_9206

Bella is standing at my podium where I usually teach from. The other two are setting up the “students” (stuffed animals) in the desks.

Learning About Measurement and the Terms “Longer Than, Shorter Than, Same As”

We used paper strips of various lengths and linking cubes to measure length in Math.

The children linked their cubes together to see if they were the same length as the paper strips.

They were all very good at this of course!

Learning About China

In Social Studies, we just finished a unit on China. My brother-in-law went to China last year and brought me back several things to show in my class. Here is a picture of the kite he sent us. It looks like a bunch of kites, but instead it is one long one. The children loved learning about China!

Special Sounds!

IMG_9225

In Phonics  & Reading we have started learning that some words have “special sounds” in them. If we learn those sounds then we can read much faster. So far we have learned 10 of those sounds! They are doing fantastic!!

IMG_9226

We learn the sound and practice saying it several times.

IMG_9228

Then we circle the special sound in words that I have written on the board.

The children also have learned how to mark the vowels in each word.

What a smart class I have!

I’m so proud of you Kinder’s!! Keep up the good work!
