Our First Week of School…2012-13

IMG_4822

              Sweet Hannah!

IMG_4823

               Sweet Eliana!

IMG_4829

Enjoying snack time!

IMG_4830

Love her dimples!!

IMG_4860

A yummy banana for snack.

IMG_4831

Lining up to go on our “Hunt for Chester”. After reading “The Kissing Hand” book we went around and visited all the important places in our school that the kids will be using/visiting. We pretended that Chester the Racoon had been to all those places and we needed to go find him.

IMG_4832

A paw print on Mrs. Angela’s wall!

IMG_4833

Also found one on the floor in her room!

IMG_4834IMG_4835

Chester left a kiss on Mrs. Angela’s hand! The kids were so excited!

IMG_4836IMG_4837

Next we were off to the lunch room! (looks like he was in the refrigerator!)

IMG_4838

A paw print in the High School Building (outside Mrs. Crotts office)

IMG_4839

Miss Lisette also had a kiss on her hand!

When we got back to our room we found another note from Chester and some sugar cookies. The kids were so excited! Now Chester sits in our room and helps me “watch” the kids. He also keeps an eye on their desks to make sure they are kept clean. Sometimes he leaves a treat on their desks when they are not in the room. Smile

IMG_4840IMG_4841

Fun on the playground!

IMG_4842IMG_4843

You can do it Eliana!

IMG_4844IMG_4845

Love those sweet smiles!

IMG_4846IMG_4847IMG_4848

So serious….

IMG_4849IMG_4850

Someone found a baby lizard on the playground (they are all over the place up there!) Mrs. Mahnken that were so cute. So did many of the kids. Me? Not so much! They are fine from a distance, but they like to jump! I don’t want them on me…Sad smile

IMG_4851IMG_4852

One of the Pre Schoolers loved it! She really wanted to hold it.

IMG_4853IMG_4854

I thought these pictures were so cute of her. Eliana was getting in on the action as well.

IMG_4855

Working at our desks, doing our Morning Meeting Math paper

IMG_4857

Looks like somebody is tired already!

IMG_4858

Such diligent workers!

IMG_4861IMG_4862

We learned about different woodland animals each day the first week of school. Today we talked about squirrels and did a “coffee ground squirrel”. Our room smelled so good today! Smile

IMG_4864

They turned out really cute, but messy! Sorry about that mom and dad!

IMG_4865

Practicing our scissor and gluing skills…

IMG_4866

She did a great job!

IMG_4867

So did Sebastin!

IMG_4868

Enjoying a little free play time in the classroom!

IMG_4869

His favorite question this week-“Can we go play now?” Smile

IMG_4870

So far the play mobil and the small plastic animals have been the biggest hit.

IMG_4871

They love pretending!

IMG_4874

Today we talked and learned about owls, then we made a pinecone bird feeder (no, not for owls…). They had so much fun!

IMG_4873

What a messy job!

IMG_4872IMG_4875

Turned my back for two seconds then caught them licking their fingers and the spreading tools they were using. Ha! Ha! They just couldn’t resist the lovely taste of peanut butter! They begged me for more. Unfortunately it was for the birds, not them.

IMG_4876IMG_4877IMG_4878

                  Aren’t they cute?

IMG_4880

They were so excited when it was time to feed Chet our frog.

IMG_4881

Each week a different “helper” gets the job.

IMG_4882

The first week it was Hannah’s turn. She couldn’t wait!! Chet preformed very well and eat the food for them to watch. Sometimes he ignores it…

IMG_4883

Friday, we talked about rabbits and made bunny hats. Funny bunny’s!

IMG_4884

We also played musical chairs.

IMG_4885

They were also very good sports about it!

IMG_4886IMG_4887

The kids were allowed to bring in a special stuffed friend to keep on their desk for the day. They also went up front and shared something about that friend, then passed it around for everyone to see and hold.

IMG_4888IMG_4889

They were a little shy at first, but warmed up pretty quick!

IMG_4890IMG_4891

Eliana forgot hers, so she picked one of mine to use. She really liked the snake…

IMG_4892IMG_4893

They were so cute!

IMG_4895IMG_4897

Love the look on his face as he thought about what to say about his duck.

IMG_4898IMG_4899

Love how well these three get along!

IMG_4900

So silly!

IMG_4905

Look who came to visit Friday??

Isn’t he a doll?? This is Sebastin’s sweet baby brother.

IMG_4901

Sebastin has a ferret as a pet, so his mom and dad (and brother) brought it for the class to see.

IMG_4902

The girls weren’t so sure about it at first.

IMG_4903IMG_4904

Eliana didn’t mind holding it but Hannah thought it was smelly. Ha! (I think that is because Sebastin told us all morning that she stinks…I never smelled it though. Thanks Mrs. Chavers, for washing her before you brought her to school! Ha! Ha!)

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Chavers for bringing “The Ferret” to school for us to get to know today. The children had a blast chasing her around!

What a great first week of school we had! I’m looking forward to what the next week holds for us. We will begin Monday with our Phonics and Math and Handwriting lessons. We also will enjoy the Elementary Revival Chapel services, lead by Mr. and Mrs. Don Shirk and family. They always do a great job and the kids love it!

Be sure to check back next week to see what we’ve been up to! Thanks for dropping by!
