In February, we started learning about words containing special sounds. The children also learn out to find these sounds in the words and circle them and mark the vowels. They read the word then give us a good sentence using it.
Exploring Tangrams
Friday, we learned about a new math material called “tangrams”. The children got to explore them, seeing how they could fit them together to make a picture or shape out of them. Next week, they will learn how to make designs and pictures using someone else’s design.
Social Studies-Learning about China
This week our focus in Social Studies has been on China. My brother and sister-in-law went to China several years ago and brought back several items for me to show my class. It is always exciting to get to see stuff from another country! This year, besides the things I have, Kian brought in a sack of items that his dad had brought back a recent visit to China. The children enjoyed seeing his family’s souvenirs very much! Thank you Kian and mom!

Pink and Purple Show and Tell
This week’s show and tell was a color theme. Since this is Valentine’s month we have done red and now today we did pink and/or purple items.
Landon’s purple Frisbee.
Kian’s pink flamingo.
Natalie’s pink (and soft) rose.
Christa’s pink dog collar.
It’s always interesting to see what they bring in!
