“Free Choice Show and Tell”

Today the kids could bring anything they wanted for show and tell. Only a couple of kids remembered though. Sad smile They are always so disappointed when they forget.

Kenley brought a little puppy that reminds her of her real dog, Dashey.

Chase brought a huge teddy bear that his cousin gave him for Valentine’s Day. Reminds me of one my husband gave me back when we were dating for Valentine’s Day. (Yes, I still have it!)

Science-Using Our Senses (Taste)

IMG_2337IMG_2338IMG_2339

Last week we started working in our “God’s World” Science books and today we talked about two of our senses. The sense of smell and the sense of taste. The kids have been so excited about this! I blindfolded them (in pairs) and then let them taste something sweet, sour, and salty. Most kids do not know the names of these distinct different tastes. That always surprises me every year when we did this activity. Anyway, it’s always fun to watch their different reactions to pickles! Ha! (I always check to make sure no one is allergic to anything that we are trying and that they are game to do this.) They were all good sports! I need to get me a “gopro” to film their reactions though. By the time I give them the “taste”, then grab my camera the funny part is usually over.

Special Guest-Wilson

Today we had a special guest from the 5th grade class. One of my “old” Kinders stopped by with the skin off of a pheasant that his teacher, Mr. Orvis, had shot. The kids were able to look at it up close and gently touch it (after which they used hand sanitizer!) if they wanted to. It is so cool to me, seeing these pictures and remembering when Wilson was in my class, 5 years ago. I have pictures of a then 6th grader bringing her birds in for us to observe. Wow, how time has flown!
