We Welcome 2010!

Welcome back to school!! It was nice having the two weeks off for Christmas vacation, but we are glad to be back in our regular routine. (somewhat)

This week it has been COLD!! But the most exciting thing that happened was it actually Snowed while we were at school!! This was the first time we got to put a snowflake on our weather chart during morning meeting!!

In Math, we learned to graph objects that are, “longer, shorter, and the same”. We were quite proud of our accomplishments.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!

On Thursday it started snowing around 11:00. We heard the 3rd and 4th graders squealing and screaming and went outside to check out what was going on. Yep! It was snowing!! Here we are trying to catch the snowflakes on our tongues!

They closed all the schools early (some in our state got out for the whole day) on Thursday so that we could make sure we got home safely. It was so pretty coming down! Too bad we didn’t get more than a few flakes! But just to make sure there was no ice on the roads, we got to come to school a whole hour later on Friday. It made for a pretty exciting couple of days!

In Social studies, we have been studying England. Mrs. Messner told us about how some songs and rhymes came from London, England. We sang the song “London Bridge Is Falling Down” and she was astounded to know that we had never played that game. So….she taught it to us. It isn’t as much fun with just the three of us, but Mrs. Messner joined in too and that was pretty silly. She is way too big to go under our bridge!!

Our frogs went home with the Green family during the Christmas break. (since Mrs. Messner went to Ohio for a week) They took good care of them for us! I think they (Chet and Kermit) were very happy to be back in our classroom though. I think they really missed us!!
